Am I Living My Life Right??

You are Ok.  Exactly Where You Are Now

Do you put a lot of pressure on yourself to Be more successful, Lose the weight, Be more productive, go outside more, wish you were more social, or more creative, want to be a kinder, nicer person, Be better at managing money….Be Happier…….?

Ugh, that was exhausting…..

Hey, I have been EXACTLY where you’ve been or are feeling right at this very moment. I have on numerous times (sometimes daily) beat myself up verbally for things I didn’t get done or I believe I really SHOULD be doing more.

There is nothing wrong with having Goals.  In fact I LOVE setting goals for myself and then tracking my progress.  But do you often feel like you aren’t doing enough?

Well, my friend, can I be the one to let you off the hook right now?  I want to tell you that you are doing AMAZING right now.  And if you are feeling let down by life or lost or just bored, this is just a rough patch.

We are ALL a work in progress.  And this is something we all have in common!  Isn’t that nice….You are not alone.

It came to my attention that the things I was saying to myself weren’t always super positive.  We all have those days.  I think we are conditioned to believe that if we aren’t having positive emotions all the time, then we aren’t doing it right!  Anyone relate??

We need to have negative things come up.  This is how we find out what areas we need to look at and move to change them….if we choose to since we all have free will!

But we DON’T have to change things ALL AT ONCE!

I think that is where a lot of us get tripped up.  We berate ourselves for not moving fast enough to change ourselves.  I know I can be very impatient with myself….which is odd since as a Taurus, I am SUPER patient with everyone else.

Think about the things you say to yourself in your head on a regular basis.  If it errs on the side of abuse (as often it does), stop and ask yourself if you would actually say that very thing to your best friend.

This is my NEW favourite “word” this year.  Flawsome!!

You are doing exactly what you need to do.  Hang in there!!  The weather will get warmer and you will change with the seasons too.

And just in case you’re worried about life and the question “Am I doing this right?” here are some fine life tidbits from the world of Dawn… 🙂

You do not have to wash your hair every day, only when it’s dirty, but you do have to wash your face every night.  You can have your hair short or long at ANY age.

You should always bring something when someone invites you over for dinner and send a card or email to the host(ess) after a dinner party.

You don’t have to apologize for disagreeing with someone but you do need to think twice before posting on social media.

You do not have to answer the phone every time it rings or reply to that text right away.

You don’t have to feel guilty for leaving negative friends but you do have to show gratitude to those good people in your life and make sure to tell them.

You do need to do something to help make this world a better place but you don’t have to solve the entire world’s problems.

And you must know where your money is and what it’s doing for you (check your balance regularly and do it with a smile no matter what).  But Never compare your life to someone elses~ comparing is the death of happiness.

Finally, you do have to forgive people who’ve hurt you, but first forgive yourself.  And yes, yes, YES you will!!

Yes, Reiki Will Help Heal Mental Illness

In 2017, 234,000 young Canadians between the ages of 15-24 had experienced such severe depression that they considered suicide. In any given year 1 in 5 people in Canada will experience a mental health problem or illness. By age 40, 50% of the population will have or have had a mental illness. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in both men and women from adolescence to middle age.

Depression and anxiety has touched many of us; some of you reading this may be struggling with it right now.  I have treated and also spoken to many of my clients about the benefits of alternative healing to help with mental illness and I am extremely passionate about helping those who suffer.

With a family member currently going through depression following a trauma and seeing doctors prescribing (in my opinion) very dangerous medication has made me “hyper aware” so to speak.

Ok, I do admit the picture on the left may be a bit harsh but not lacking in truth.

I am NOT saying medication has no place for people suffering mental illness, nor would I ever tell someone to stop taking medications their doctor prescribed.

What I AM saying is that I worry doctors will not look at the root of the problem to help their patients and instead prescribe medications as a “quick fix”.

I would like to see more doctors working WITH Reiki practitioners and other healers.  I truly believe incorporating more alternative healing modalities with Western medicine would help on a much greater level.  This is why we call treatments like Reiki, Reflexology, and Massage, Complimentary Therapies!

So how does Reiki help those suffering from Depression?

Reiki is such a gentle and yet powerful tool that can be used to deal  with mental stress, feelings of failure, loneliness and very high expectations, which are some of the main causes of depression.

When we aren’t feeling like ourselves; feeling lost, distressed, angry, unfocused, etc, it means one or more of our Chakras are out of balance.  The energy flow in our body is blocked or stagnant and cannot move freely.

A Reiki practitioner channels energy and uses specific symbols they’ve been trained to use to break up any blockages in the energy system.  Toxic energy is shifted with the higher vibrational Reiki energy.

When we remove this stagnation and shift the energy, we are more able to experience a deep sense of well-being, feel more relaxed, our thoughts become more positive on a consistent basis which in turn helps our body-mind to Heal.

Depression has its main location in our Base or Root Chakra and also the Heart Chakra (self worth) but a practitioner will make sure all chakras are balanced and the energy is flowing freely after a session.

It’s important that you connect with your Reiki practitioner, especially when you are looking for help with mental illness.  Because this is an unregulated healing modality at the moment, make sure you are actually receiving a Reiki treatment.

Ask to see a practitioner’s certificates, who their Master Teacher was and if they know their lineage.

Reiki doesn’t need to be a mysterious, mystical treatment although I am often still blown away by the experiences I have had with my clients. And they are ALWAYS positive ones.

I think most people have a difficult time understanding Reiki because it works on an invisible energy level.

But I can tell you that EVERYONE who has had a Reiki healing with me leaves feeling calmer, more at peace, lighter and focused.

Reiki treatments allow people to “let go” of the worry, anger and emotional pain that usually are part of the experience of depression. The deep relaxation from Reiki sessions can provide the sense of well being and restore a sense of purpose that is missing for people who are suffering from depression.

Reiki isn’t going to be a “quick fix”.  Healing is often like peeling an onion; when 1 layer is healed another surfaces for it’s turn.

But the bonus with Reiki~NO sketchy side effects…only Peace.

AND when you work to Holistically heal your body (and why I choose to help people this way) you are decreasing your chances of Dis-ease manifesting in your body and your life becomes softer, more gentler.

And then can you see, feel and live more joyfully and more compassionately on Earth.

A Better You Means a Better World.
